I think many people have, rather playfully, asked themselves that question. It’s just kind of a fun thing to think about.
But when so many readers began to tell me reading my book was like watching a movie and that they felt they could actually see everything, through my words, just as if they were watching it on the screen, and, also, that they’d love to see Dawson’s Gift become a movie, I asked myself – in a real, more serious way – who would I like to play me? And I had an answer. Though, I guess I had never said it out loud.
A few days ago, my daughter was telling me about two newspaper articles she had read. She said she thought I would like them because they mentioned things she and I had been discussing… how much we strive to eliminate all problems from our lives… how we try so hard to avoid having any stress at all… as if our whole goal in life was just to have an easy life. I admitted that, especially with everything that is going on in the world right now, I often felt that way.
She went on to say, “The articles are from interviews with Patricia Heaton. She’s written a new book, Your Second Act. You know who she is?”
“Of course,” I said, “I like her. In fact, I wanted her to play me in my movie! She’s small. She has dark hair. But, best of all, she is Christian! That makes her perfect for the role.”
My daughter sent me the articles and as I was reading, I was struck by the similarity of our thoughts and our beliefs on failures, sufferings, God’s plans and, especially, His perfect timing.
I was, at this time, being introduced to Patricia Heaton’s own words – “If we abide in God and abide in His timing, He’s going to bless us far greater than we could have imagined.” – just as I was reintroducing Dawson’s Gift to the world.
Blessed timing?
